Marie yawned, slowly raising her head from her work bench and rubbing her eyes drowsily. Looking down, she scowled at what she'd been building. Weapons.
Two weeks ago, earth was threatened, and S.H.E.I.L.D had put her to work. She frowned and pushed away from the table. She didn't normally work for Fury, but she'd agreed to team up with him this one time to save humanity.
She shuffled out of her armory, wiping sweat from her forehead, and sighing. Her cat, Toxic, trotted beside her as she made her way through her mansion to the first floor, out onto the estate.
"You know what cat? I really don't have a good feeling about this..."
Toxic looked up at her, rubbing against Marie's leg. It was expected for Marie to act like this, afraid of fighting. She was nineteen. A year ago, when she was eighteen, she was killed by the person she considered a father. After she was resurrected, she'd gone back to her birth dimension, isolating herself from her friends, her old life, so she could calm down. Now, everything was getting out of wack again, and she didn't feel like she could play Miss Hero anymore.
She gave her cat a weary smiled, walking down the drive to her car, hopping in and turning the key, driving towards town.
"I got it, how about I get you some more cat food?"
Toxic purred from the passenger's seat, and Marie grinned, pulling up to the pet store.
"Wait here." She ordered her cat, stepping out of the sport's car. She took a deep breath and headed into the pet store, scanning the asles for wet cat food.
Toxic lashed her tail and purred as Marie returned, setting the bag of cat food in the back seat and turning on the radio, driving back home.
"That was the only thing I had to do today..." Her voice trailed off as she pulled up at home, S.H.E.I.L.D agents waiting for her.
"Dammit, what do they want...?" She muttered, stepping from the car. The female agent turned towards her.
"Miss Stark, we need you to come with us."
