Swiftstar twitched her ears, lifting her head out out of her bedding. She sat up, stretching and looked out at camp from her den. She smiled at the new kits as the tumbled around with a ball of moss, while the elders sat in their dens, watching with glee. The Siamese tabby stood up, stretching each leg, before padding into camp.

Swiftstar rolled her Siamese tabby shoulders and let out a purr of delight as the sun splashed over her pelt. She pleasurably ruffled her pelt and stalked towards the freshkill pile, picking out a mouse and crouching down to eat.

The leader stretched, after finishing her meal, and padded up to Mapleseed, her deputy. She purred and good morning, but her deputy turned towards her with a troubled expression.
"Swiftstar, I need to speak to you..."
I blinked and nodded, sitting down and wrapping her tail around her paws.
"Yes Mappleseed, what is it?"
She shuffled her paws.
"I think it's about time I stepped down from my position and join the elders..."
Swiftstar nodded, noticing the signs of aging on the old she-cat's face.
"I respect your decision." She murmured. Mappleseed smiled, and dipped her head.
"Thank you..."

Swiftstar purred, and jumped onto the highrock.
"Let all cats old enough to catch their own prey, gather beneath the high rock for a clan meeting!" Her voice echoed through the camp hallow as cats swam from their dens and in front of the highrock, looking up at her with wide curious eyes.

Swiftstar flicked her ears.
"Mapleseed has decided to join the elders," she paused as the clan let out meows of respect towards the old deputy, but quieted as they waited for their leader to announce the new deputy. Switstar's eyes gazed across the hallow, her eyes resting on a single cat.
"As according to Starclan ritual, the new deputy shall be chosen before moon high. Shadowclan's new deputy shell be, Dad. (TEE HEE)" She flicked her tail, grinning slyly, dissmissing the clan and leaping off the highrock, and beside her new deputy.
